Boulder Forms a new Artists Guild
There's a new Guild in town, and they are currently looking for new members and someone to design their new logo. If you're interested in doing either or both of these things you can read the official Artists' Guild of Boulder letter pasted below.
If you have any questions after that you can email me at rob_geisen@illiteratemagazine.com and I'll put you in touch with the appropriate Guild gang member who will be super-happy to answer them for you.
New Gotham needs you. Make a difference. Join the Battle against the Un-Unitied who instead of working together to change the world for the better, just sit around bitching about things in their plaid pajamas of psychosis of doom
Capes and/or Cowls optional.
iloveyou,
Rob
Subj: WE WANT YOU for the Artists’ Guild of Boulder
Hello Boulder company/artist/website-
We wanted to contact you about an artists’ guild incorporated in the last couple months with the goal of combining resources and improving community marketing for artists and all genres of art across the board in Boulder. The goal of the guild would include creating a centralized location where people can advertise, network and report on the goings on around town - and surely will expand further as we go along.
Social networking has obviously exploded in the last few years and extremely changed the way people communicate and advertise, but with Boulder being a central hub of activity and in particular a haven for artists and musicians, we feel there needs to be a place where all the many strings can effectively meet. To that end we have a couple goals:
· Create a central event calendar online listing everything that’s going on—for all creative searchers, all ages, all genres--from gallery openings and poetry readings to music festivals and alternative art showcases—the common conclusion being that there exists one place that serves as a source for anybody interested—listing events, classes, community info, local businesses, links, contact info and “further reading,” so to speak
· Offer better resources for networking with other local artists; linking to their websites, learning what they do, keeping the focus revolving, fluid and interesting
· Develop better organized grassroots advertising and marketing systems including improving local PR and pooling resources to collectively get the word out
· Rebuild a real and strong artistic community that has yet to be united in the Boulder of the new millennium – through guild meetings and organized communication among members
The Guild has been meeting for two months now and has been expanding every week with members from across the spectrum. It has been officially incorporated and we’d love to know if you have any interest in the project and how you think we can improve and beef up the artistic collective in Boulder. There’s a lot of work to be done but enthusiasm is high and we want to hear everyone’s ideas. Please let us know if you have any questions as we start out—and if you’d be willing to put some time into brainstorming! (and if not, can we still link to your website and include you as a local resource?) The next Guild meeting is scheduled for Sunday June 21 at the Draft House (2027 13th St, Boulder, CO 80302—right off the Pearl Street Mall)
Thanks much for any input and participation and we look forward to a hugely successful future!
