Burnt Toast Open Mic on the Web
Welcome back to the weekly Poetry blog! I know it’s been a couple weeks since the last weekly Poetry blog was posted, but you know, specific things came up and I became distraught and shit like that. But I’m much better now!
Or at least I’m a little better. Or maybe I’m not any better at all, but at least it’s now. At least that much of the sentence was truthful. I’m much better now. So let the Poetry blogging resume…
As you may or may not know, Illiterate Magazine (along with Baobob Tree Press) runs a weekly Poetry/Open Mic every Wednesday night at the Burnt Toast in Boulder (on the Hill, across the street from The Sink). Spoken word. Music. Stand up comedy. Anything goes. It’s a great place to hang out, try out new material, have a bunch of drinks, and meet some extremely talented mother fuckers.
The October 21 reading was recorded and is now available for your audio ear viewing pleasure on the interweb. If you were there and want to hear what you sounded like or if you weren’t there and want to check things out, just click the link below. There’s a full track list of performers available on the website.
If you’ve been reading through the Illiterate Magazine submissions on the website, you’ll probably recognize a lot of the names. And if you’re in Boulder on a Wednesday night, stop by the Burnt Toast and read a poem or something, play a song, have a drink, order some food if you’re hungry, support the community. (sign up at 8:00, show starts at 8:30 and usually ends around 11:30 or 12:00, hosted by Olatundji Akposani and me (or ‘myself’, or maybe it’s just me).
Also: Thanks again for Bradley Albus for coming down and recording the show and posting it on the inter-web for everyone to hear.
