I Left My Heart at the Fabric Lab
It's been such a whirlwind.
I first encountered the Fabric Lab when I submitted a few of my dresses to their Haute Art + Fashion Show.
At the time I was a student in Boulder, stuck in the bubble, and it was really my first taste of the Denver art scene : I was impressed/inspired/hungry for more. I officially fell in love with the Super Block when they had the fashion show on the sidewalk.

Shortly after, I moved to San Francisco, but still kept a curious eye on the Denver fashion scene via the internets and FM Magazine's fashion editorials. Everything I was seeing in the independent fashion design world in the bay correllated very closely (except on a much smaller scale of course) to everything I was reading/seeing/hearing about about in Denver. When weighing my options to move to Denver from the bay, my mind kept wandering back to that night on East Colfax. The fact that Denver wasn't on the so-called "fashion map" didn't bother me. I knew something was there.
Immediately after I moved to Denver, I found a musing & welcoming fashion community through the Fabric Lab. I truly respect Tran Wills for building the infrastructure of the Denver fashion scene and stepping up to the role of support by leading & teaching by example.
Although I know I will get all nostalgic and sappy and maybe a little teary eyed at the show because I'll miss harrassing Tran while eating all her rice snack mix, trail mix, cupcakes and wine at the Prototypes . . . I really just can't wait to see what the fuck they does next !?!? !!?! ?

The Fabric Lab has been a huge mover-n-shaker in Denver for a while now, they'll certainly be leaving behind some big (and fashionable) shoes to fill. We'll all miss them so much!
