As late as this is, who isn't late these days. Plus, Denver gets influenced from the west coast, and they're always late too, that's why they speed and cut you off in traffic. but anyway, better late then never, or so i've heard.

first off,

Thank You to all who have given me a platform to comment and share ideas, those who also have given one certain Mario Zoots a platform to comment and share ideas. being that this is the first of my series of blog associated with illiterate magazine, i feel it necessary to clarify my objectives while also giving praise where praise is due. thank you to the members of the illiterate community, as well as all who were in attendence at the exhibit opening on first friday. it was with all participants help that our lives are enriched.

this is a review.

Here you see a model in a magazine, but wait, there's something off, oh, her body is made of lots of little cut up pieces of different magazines, and porn. i know that there is some debate about porn in the art industry and its no doubt why. Sex sells. Sure, but it shouldn't be art, or so some say. There is also the fact that porn is terribly degrading to women. Which is true. Porn creates not only the degradation of women, but also our society. i miss mystery doesn't feel like one of those debates however.

But lets not get on a tangent. Here we also see melting faces, is it blood? tears? sweat? here we have a destruction of the form. which is an example of modernist cubist painters, but "mystery" isn't modernism.

There is a lot of debate going on right now about what epoch of art are we in right now. it's not even considered postmodernism anymore. I'm sure in ten or twenty years from now we'll know, but if the world does come to an end in 2012, who cares.

I MIss mYsterY is a diabolical "all out war against our new ventures of pop culture." and why shouldn't it be?                                                                                                                        here, Mario Zoots is reflecting a mirrored image of our media corrupted, mass consuming, materialistic, pop-mutha' f****n'-culture. here are clouded eyes. here are body portions replaced by prosthetic symbols of mass produced fingers commodicized by Gucci. here are childhood idols, sports figures who no one recognizes and no one knows. here abstract shapes and representations of humans as commodities played to the tune of a cyber remix hosted at club sphynx. here we have... the LOVE PYRAMID!!! the pyramid is Zoots' punch-line and his closing statement. love pyramid is the subliminal message riddled kitsh porn pyramid that explodes with color, shape, texture, and flesh. here also are  Zoots added area's of mystery. the experience goes something like when you're looking at porn and you see it's porn and you can't look away from the porn. but here it's different because when you look closer at Zoots' porn, you see that the images main focal point (the main focal point of the images being the scandeless portions of breasts, fingers in vagina's, blow jobs, girls on girls) are covered by Reba Macantire on a swing against a soft blue sky. or that's how reba's last name is spelled pheonetically, but who cares, that's what abbreviation and emoticons are for right? or, there is a postcard of a nice amish family in their horse drawn carriage covering that b-movie karate star getting head from some slutty blond.                                                                                       nbsp;   you realize that there are two kinds of imagery shown, that of some annonymous donators collection of porn, and another of some other annonymous donators collections of personal sentiment. the wholesomeness of these articles juxtaposed with the grotesque porn are Zoots' "big guns" if you will. Love Pyramid is the cry for mystery again. mystery is what i miss. i miss it because mystery is like ignorance, but not the kind of ignorance because you just don't know or refuse to know, but the kind of ignorance where you haven't had a chance to know, yet. You haven't quite figured it out, like when you were a kid, and you knew that sex was a thing, but you didn't know what it was. like when you knew that boys and girls didn't have the same parts, but you didn't know why. what were those other parts there for? I Miss MYstery is about an identity crisis. who are we? why do we attribute so much importance to superficial realities in fashion magazines and sports teams? what is my purpose in life? to make money and try and be like these people, the kind of people who would wear Louis Vuitton. or i think that's how you spell his name, i don't know. french isn't a pheonetic language.
